About

In high school, I took a photography class and loved it.  I loved taking black and white pictures with interesting angles.  For my high school graduation, my dad gave me a Canon SLR with two lenses.  I loved it, but because film developing was so expensive, I only used it on rare occasions.  Over the years, I forgot most of what I had learned about photography.
Then, three years ago, my husband encouraged me to pick it back up.  We purchased a DSLR and I began shooting pictures.  I found that I gravitated to nature and closeups.  I relied on the automatic settings on my camera and never read the manual.

A year later, my husband wanted to get me a new lens for my camera.  The camera store recommended a prime macro lens to me.  I put it on and loved it!  It was a completely different experience than using a zoom lens.  With a prime lens, you move in and out to frame the picture rather than relying on the camera to zoom in and out.

Later that week, I was asked to take portraits at a father/daughter dance.    I remember praying as I drove over that I would take good pictures that the folks in them would enjoy.  I felt as if God opened my eyes that night to the beauty of his creation--us.  I had never wanted to take portraits, but now I wanted to take more!

God gave me a heart desire with my photography:  to reveal glimpses of his beauty in his creation.  When I look through my camera, I want to capture the beauty in every child or adult that I see.  That beauty gives me joy and reminds me of how uniquely God has created each one of us.
